In July 2008, Nissan announced that they were entering into collaboration with the State of Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley Authority in a partnership to boost the electric vehicle-friendly policies development and an EV charging infrastructure. This partnership was the U.S.'s first of its kind and has served as the other markets across the nation's model.
